Mount Kilimanjaro is referred to as the highest mountain in Africa at 19,341ft above sea level. It takes 5 to 9 days to complete the Kilimanjaro climb for the standard itinerary. The most beautiful routes with the highest success rates are the Lemosho route and Machame route, both routes offer over 95% of success rates.

The Lemosho route takes 7 days to 8 days and the Machame route takes 6 to 7 days to complete a hike for a comfortable hike. The other routes are the Northern circuit, Marangu route, Rongai route, Umbwe Route, and Western Breach route.

The best time to climb Kilimanjaro in the months of January through early March and June through October. The clear skies, great views, and sunshine make it the best comfortable hiking conditions. However, there is always the possibility of weather changing dramatically, regardless of the Kilimanjaro season.

8 Days Lemosho Route

This route is most preferred due to its beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. It starts from west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Landorosi Gate.

7 Days Lemosho Route

The Lemosho Route is relatively new. It starts on the Western side of Mount Kilimanjaro at the Londorossi Gate and was introduced as an alternative to the Shira Route which begins at a higher, more challenging altitude.

8 Days Northern Circuit Route

This route is also known as the Northern Circuit or Alternative Lemosho Route. This route starts on the western side of the mountain then winds around the north side before ascending up to Uhuru Peak from the east.

7 Days Rongai Route

An approach form the dry northeast (Kenya side) up to the flanks of Mawenzi (the oldest of the three Kilimanjaro volcanoes) into the great expanse of the barren saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo and finally up to the summit via the Marangu Route form 5+ days, but best done in 6 or 7 days.

The Umbwe route is the most spectacular and direct way to reach Uhuru peak. It is considered to be very difficult and is the most challenging way up to Mountain Kilimanjaro. Umbwe does not provide the necessary stages for attitude acclimatization due to quick ascent.

Marangu Route is the oldest and most popular route. One time the route was dawning over 80% of trekkers on Kilimanjaro, as a result come to be known as coca cola route, this has led potential climber to think that it is an easy route to the summit but this it is not true.
